GitHub, one of the most popular open source platform on the internet and home to most of all the open source big names has released its lists of popular and swift growing programming languages that topped the chart for the most used and growing programming languages of 2018.



This year, GitHub has ensued that programmers are enthusiastic towards statically type languages” that are typed focused and interoperable." This report is based on GitHub Octoverse release for 2018.

This year, the first spot for the fastest growing language was topped by Kotlin, owned and mange by JetBrains. This should not be mistaken for the most popular PL, as Java and C still tops the League of extraordinary languages.


What is Kotlin?


Kotlin is a statically typed programming language that runs on Java Virtual Machine,  targeted at Android, JavaScript and Native. It is maintained and developed by JetBrains, a software company popular for IDEs like phpStorm, WebStorm and IntelliJ.








TypeScript also came in third gaining massive contributions and earning more significance as it continues to increase in popularity, this can also be said for Rust, it came in 5th on the list.
