Microsoft Edge Browser To Switch Into Chromium Project
Microsoft Edge Browser is confirmed to be having a remake on their outlook and performance, this time they're switching from their proprietary EdgeHTML engine to an open source Chromium project.
According to the Windows blog, Microsoft made known a fact about the company's contribution to the open source community over the past few years. Switching to the Chromium project would mean that Microsoft is willing to build a browser with less fragmentation and more compatibility to enhance user's experience.
This change will make MS Edge browser follow certain web standards similar to other chromium-based browsers.
The Company also plans to make Edge executable and compatible with previous Windows Operating Systems like Windows 7 and 8. It would be a cross platform browser and available to Apple's Macintosh OS.
Probably next year Microsoft Chromium Edge would be released to the public, but for now let's keep our fingers crossed and hope it doesn't end like IE browser (Internet Explorer)
