Google To Launch Anti-Spam Feature in Messages App

Formerly called Android Messages, the Google Messages app which could be found on an Android One device is supposedly getting a spam protection feature.

The feature isn't rolling out to all users just yet. To see that the feature is readily available for your app, you'd see a pop-up "New! Spam protection"

Apparently, the feature appears to be server-side as the rollout would be limited to certain users.

The Spam protection feature can be found in the Advanced menu option where you can toggle it on or off.
Also be informed that when setting up this Spam Protection option, be sure that Google would receive some data concerning  it and then look at the data statistically to determine similarities between spam messages to detect them.

If you're not too comfortable with sharing such information, you can alternatively ignore the Spam protection feature.
Just to break the iceberg, the feature is similar to the Truecaller app.
