Nigerian Banks And The Simplicity Of Their Logos
Make things simple but not simpler - Albert Einstein
I don't know if you've noticed but Nigerian Banks have this trait of simplicity when it comes to their branding, especially the logos.
As Graphics Designers, coming up with creative ideas isn't an easy task, especially when you're asked to develop the concept singlehandedly, but when you eventually come up with that amazing idea no one can conquer your feeling of excitement. This should be like a kind of inspiration for logo designers and aspirants on simplicity in designs.
Why Do Most Banks Have Simple Logos?
I feel they want people to feel safe; i mean, they literally want customers to feel comfortable with the fact that they're handing their money. So they tend to come up with innocent looking logos, without much complications or altering. The same way the Nigerian Transport industry uses religious mottos and names to increase customers patronage, something like " Grace motors, then motto: " By Grace, you shall reach your goal ", all these just to woo potential customers.( This is my own funny take on Naija Banks logo simplicity )
In Addy...
An example is me trying to explain GKLited's logo to entail our message of enlightenment, where the electric bulb denotes light (enlightening), exclamation of ideas & another which is an embodiment of knowledge.
So enough of me, here are some Nigerian Bank Logos
In no particular order...
1. Access Bank
Three greater than symbols and that's it. Extremely lite but beautiful. The font is also beautiful
2. Diamond Bank
A stylish multicolored crystal shaped D denoting a Diamond. Very creative, yet so meek in display.. Color matters!
3. Fidelity Bank
Looks like a curvy square sliced in the middle, yet another calm design.

So when next you're designing a corporate logo or any logo at all, I'd like you to use these logos outlined here as an inspiration,
Simple not simpler!
Hope this helps 💡
