How To Stop Receiving Unsolicited Messages From MTN Nigeria

This is one of the most annoying and still informative things when using cellular networks.

You receive both useless and useful information. At a time i requested the steps to halting theirs messages service through their WhatsApp service center and after stopping the service, i later turn it on after missing the disturbances. Truth is, i do get important messages at times so i have to ignore the disturbances. But for anyone who is so angry about their messages, still read below.

However, to stop unwanted messages from MTN is 100% possible. Its called DND (Do Not Disturb).

Here are the steps

Kindly note that MTN has introduced The Do-Not-Disturb (DND) service to all MTN customers which allows to opt out of receiving promotional messages for 3rd Party services (Bulk SMS, VAS promos, etc)

Kindly send help to 2442 to view the menu options and their functions

The DND service will allow customers to choose their preference with respect to receiving broadcasted promotional messages on the network.

Below are the key highlights:
- DND scope is limited to 3rd party services, and not MTN services
- Two (2) DND modes will exist:
 a. Fully Blocked mode: Allows customers to Opt Out totally from receiving promotional messages broadcast via SMS and IVR. 
b. Partially Blocked mode: Allows customers to filter service categories for promotional messages they wish to receive.Gg
- Customers will need to activate the DND service by opting via SMS (texting STOP to 2442) or   via the DND portal: (https://donotdisturb.mtnonline.com:8081/vasportal)
-   To view all available DND options, you can text HELP to 2442 or visit the DND portal
-   Activation/De-activation of the service is FREE-PA
